Well, now that you guys are all frapsing pros, and are recording the grass growing instead of focusing on WTF you're doing mid fight... it's time to learn how to collect all that jazz and compress it from it's huge size into something manageable.
First item we will use is Virtual Dub, or VDub. You can get said program here: sourceforge.net/projects/virtualdub/
This is by far one of the better programs that I have used to compress videos. However, you may disagree and find something else, so feel free to try out other compressors.
Once you get VirtualDub.exe running, and you have a blank menu brought up with a bunch of fancy buttons, it's time to start compressing videos. So, find the video that you want to compress, drag and drop it into the screen, or hit Open and browse for the file and load it up.
Once you have the video in the player and ready to compress... we then have to configure the compression rates we are going to use, and what codec it should use.
Hit Ctrl+P to be brought to the compression selection screen, as shown below:
Once you decide a good codec to use (I prefer Xvid MPEG4, or x264-H264), then you can configure it to use more quality, or smaller file size. The better the quality, the larger the file size. This would be a good stage to try out various compressions and see which one works best for you.
** Also, be warned, that certain codecs require people to have those codecs to view them. MOST codecs can be downloaded via the K-Lite Codec Pack here: fileforum.betanews.com/detail/KLite_Codec_Pack_Full/1094057842/3 ***
Once you're ready to save it... hit File, then Save as AVI, or F7. Name that sucker, and compress it. It should take anywhere from 1 minute to a millennium, depending on how large the video is, and what rate you are trying to compress it at. The longer the better, as the better quality, the more we have to work with.
